Description

With its Downhill pedigree, the Minion DHF 24" 3C/EXO/TR MTB Tire will give traction in almost any environment. Originally designed for DH, the Minion DHF's tread pattern has been around for years because it works. Now available in this 24 x 2.4" version. Whether cornering or ripping down a straight, and regardless if you're rolling through mud, loose conditions, or hard pack, these tires will keep the bike under you.

Made using Maxxis's 3C Max Terra rubber compound, the Minion DHF is tacky but not so soft that it sacrifices rolling speed. The EXO casing helps protect from punctures, and the DHF is fully tubeless ready.

p>The Minion DHF 24" 3C/EXO/TR MTB Tire measures 24 x 2.4 inches (61 - 507 ISO). Black. 120 TPI. 765 grams.

My 10 yr old has a Specialized Hotrock 24. He had 1.75" tires. But with the pandemic we were doing much more dirt trails and some MTB trails so I wanted to upgrade his tires. He also wanted wider tires for the look since this was a hand-me-down bike for him.

I bought the widest MTB tires (not fat tires) I could find in 24" that I thought would fit his bike. These were it. Availability was a big factor. DHR II's were out of stock. Shipping was fast, price was ok, easy to mount. After a while we noticed that in the lowest gear (when the chain is closest to the tires), the back tire rubs the chain. Nothing too bad but definitely seems that 2.4" wide tires is the max for a Specialized Hotrock 24".

When he needs a confidence boost on the trail, I remind him that he has (one of) the best MTB tires that exist, even better than his dad's. Works like a charm every time

Kids deserve real tires

Mounted this on my son's Rocky Mountain Vertex 24 to replace the plastic trash tire. Really the only spec miss on the bike besides grips. He's able to handle slick root/rock sections and corner much more confidently. Maybe overkill if your kid doesn't ride rough trails, but 100% worth it if they do. FYI the clearance is a bit tight on a Suntour XCR 24 JR fork but it fits, just no room for a mud guard.
