Description

Carve Up The Trail

Introducing the Maxxis Dissector, a "unicorn" tire with a center tread design that carried speed easily but with edge blocks worthy of world-class cornering speed. Designed in conjunction with Australian DH racer Troy Brosnan, the Dissector seeks to minimize drag while retaining cornering control.

The Dissector center knobs are all heavily ramped to minimize drag, but retain sharp, flat edges along their backs to provide strong braking traction. Small sipes give the knobs additional flexion, increasing their surface area during braking and aiding the transition to the edge blocks when cornering. A distinct channel along either side of the center knobs along with ample spacing between all lugs that helps to clear debris.

This versatile tire can be used as a front, a pair, or as a rear depending on trail conditions.

Features:

  • Wide Trail (WT) casing optimized for 35mm inner rim widths
  • 3C MaxxTerra compound, EXO casing
  • 29 x 2.4 Inch

Good at First - Disappointed with Durability

Really liked this tire at first, but with some riding all of the outer knobs, both sides, on the rear tire tore. Every one. Now they are just flappy rubber bits hanging by a thread that provide no cornering support. Makes it useless in hard corners. Front tire is doing the same, but not every knob yet. I suppose it will only be time until they all tear, also. It's to bad, because they were good at the start.

Used it on trails, hard pack with layer of loose over it.

The Dissector handles it as a champ, cornering is as on rails.

I have used this as a front tire paired with a Rekon in the rear for a fast rolling combo. I have also used this as a rear tire with a DHF up front as a grippy combo. Works well in either position. Great rollong tire with excellent corner grip.

Rolls almost like a road tire but with mtb grip ! Works well in slippery as well as dry, hard packed terrain!
