Description

The Best Surface-to-Weight Ratio On The Market

Every second is precious in a race, and you can't afford to lose even a fraction of one. The X-Track Race Carbon Ti pedals from LOOK are specifically created for the most unforgiving courses. The geometry of the mechanism is designed for easy engagement in all conditions, evacuating any elements which may get in the way such as mud or sand. The titanium body offers a 515 sq mm contact area, while the titanium axle ensures the pedal is stiff and light, a mere 145 grams underfoot.

All the energy you produce is transferred to your MTB through your pedals. They are one of the most critical contact points on the bike, second only to the handlebars. LOOK's objective in this new undertaking was to find solutions that would enable the most efficient transfer of rider power possible. That is why LOOK has chosen to place the weight/contact surface ratio as the primary factor when defining the X-Track Race.

Generally speaking, the greater the contact surface, the more efficiently energy is transferred. On the other hand, the greater the contact surface, the more the pedal will weigh. The challenge faced by LOOK's engineers was therefore, to identify the zones that are useful for energy transmission and then optimize the pedal design in order to limit any that are unused. This task allowed LOOK to engineer a pedal with the best contact surface-to-weight ratio on the market.

Carefree SPD Pedals

Carefree and reliable set of pedals. Look has done well with their implementation of Shimano's tried and true SPD interface. Look's cleats have a little bit more float but you can still use Shimano's SPD cleats. I have done gravel and fast road rides with these pedals. With some nice shoes and the wider platform of these pedals it is easy to put the power down with efficiency and comfort.

Bought these for a custom build and they haven't lived up to my expectations. Too much float in the pedal and the adjustment doesn't have a tight engagement so it's difficult to find a good fit.
