Four seasons on the Fusion 5.

The Fusion 5 is the result of all the experts at Hutchinson combining their knowledge, experience, and test results to create an uncompromising tire on the road. Designed to balance the five key markers of a great tire: grip, efficiency, durability, puncture resistance, and comfort, this All Season version uses a special all-weather compound and a water-shedding tread so you can ride confidently in any condition. Its 127 TPI casing gives it a supple ride, while a butyl liner makes the Fusion 5 All Season tubeless-ready for next-level performance.

I've been riding tubeless the last two years, alternating between the S-Works (700x24) and Hutchinson Fusion (3 & 5, 700x23) tyres. Although the S-Works and Fusion 3 models provided an excellent ride in grip and puncture protection, this latest Fusion 5 model is the most supple one so far with similar puncture protection. Combined with the right pressures, the ride becomes smooth and forgiving. The tyres have logged more than 1000 miles, with little indication of wear. Punctures have been infrequent that I've only suffered one (that led to a tow) in the last two years when a nail penetrated the casing. If set up correctly, small punctures will be sealed when a proper sealant is used.

Here's my current setup

WH-6800 Ultegra wheelset (no rim tape needed, use the included tubeless valves, especially for the asymmetric rear wheel)

Fusion 5 all season tubeless road tyres (700x23)

Orange Seal sealant, refill every 6 months.

I've been running Tufo Calebra's 23's on my road bike for the past 6 months. Fast and fairly puncture resistant, until I got my 2nd flat this summer (always the rear!!). Like you I hate flats. They can really ruin an enjoyable ride.

Decided to try the Hutchinson Fusion 25 tubeless as I believe it would have prevented my last 2 flats. Installation was a breeze using CO2 cartridge to seal then added Stan's sealant. The combination of this Shimano wheelset and tire fits easily and does not pop as other combinations do. It just seats perfectly.

There is no doubt that the ride is overall much smoother. I feel much less road chatter. The only negative is that acceleration appears slightly less.

Decided I will take comfort and flat protection over small performance hit.

Will update on durability later.
