An iconic cycling legacy optimized for the most cutting edge disc brake road bicycles.
The HED Jet Plus Disc2 wheelset follows a lineage of aerodynamic innovation dating back to the 80's, when Francesco Moser broke the cycling world hour record on the tracking using a bicycle with front and rear disc wheels.
The Minnesota-based HED has called upon its 35+ years of industry experience to ground the aerodynamic disc wheel solidly in the present with a modern disc-brake version. The Jet Plus Disc2 features a newly designed profile optimized for 25mm clincher tires that gets top marks in the wind tunnel.
For the modern time trial or triathlon racer, there is no better wheel for raw aerodynamic advantage and the ultimate stopping power/modulation of disc brakes.
The nitty gritty.
For the technically inclined, HED hasn't overlooked any aspect of construction; the Jet Plus Disc2 is packed with an attention to detail designed to put you at the head of the pack.
The overall structure of the wheel uses what HED refers to as a "Hybrid Skeletal" form that combines the internal structure of HED's Ardennes rim profile with an undulating organic carbon fiber form. The 21mm internal width continues for 70mm into the disc, where it then tapers down before flaring back out again to meet the hub. The wave-like profile reduces drag to astonishingly low numbers.
The actual skeleton of the wheel is comprised of 24 double-crossed J-bend Sapim CX-Ray spokes that lace an aluminum rim to HED's 545 Disc Brake hub set. The hub features ABEC 5 hi-grade stainless steel bearings and comes standard as a 12 x 142mm thru axle with available 135mm QR adapters available.
The carbon disc is expertly molded to the skeleton to complete the wheel. The result is a yaw beating modern disc wheel that massively improves speed and stability across all wind angles. Wind stalling is virtually eradicated due to the new organic shape.
The HED Jet Plus Disc2 is the modern disc-brake disc wheel every serious time trialist or triathlete has been waiting for.
