Description

Extra Width + Tubeless Ready = Greater Confidence with the Ardennes Plus LT Clincher Wheelset.

For this wheelset, HED has taken their fantastic C2 rims and made them wider, 25mm wide to be exact. This extra width takes the characteristics that made the 23mm version great, even better. A wider rim means that a mounted tire gets more sidewall support and a larger contact patch, so corners can be taken more confidently. It also means that lower pressures can be run which helps smooth out road noise, making for a more comfortable ride.

In addition to this widening, the new rims have been made tubeless ready so if you decide you want to make the jump to road tubeless, it will be an easy transition.

Backing these new rims up are HED's venerable Sonic hubs. Their aluminum construction is lightweight but durable, and the oversize bearings used to provide a long-lasting smooth ride. Lacing the whole set together are black bladed spokes for a little extra aerodynamic advantage. 18 spokes are laced radially in the front, while the rear uses 24 spokes in a two-cross pattern for a little extra strength and stiffness.

Available in either Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10/11 or Campagnolo 9/10/11 speed versions, the Ardennes Plus LT Clincher Wheelset is Black with reflective graphics. Claimed weight is 1535 g.

Bought these to replace the stock wheel on my Transonic road bike. They look great and are clearly lighter, resulting in increased speed. The wider rims put more of the tire surface on the road giving better traction. The shipping was same day - got them the new day.

I typically put 5,000 miles 300,000ft of elevation gain per year on my road wheels with some mixed dirt and gravel so I was looking for something more durable than my carbon clinchers. Went with ardennes plus because I am a believer in the wide rim movement. Note - I typically run conti 4000 25mm, but when mounted up on these heels, they stretch to 28.2mm wide, so I may try to move down to a 23mm tire. What the Ardennes lack in aero benefits, they more than make up for with stiffness, ride quality, and breaking power. I am only five hundred miles into them, but no complaints so far. WBW shipped fast and were easy to order from online.

Fair Weather Wheels

I ride year around (190lbs). I was looking for a wider option to a Shimano Ultegra wheel set (which worked for years under these conditions). After 600 miles, half of which was in the rain, the rear free hub started to make a loud crackling noise. On inspection the free hub body was badly scored by my Shimano cassette. HED claims to have fixed the bearing issue. They did not fix the scoring. I was very disappointed with the wheels.

Much nicer ride than stock Shimano wheels!

Reality check, you get what you pay for! First thing I noticed right away, the smoother ride with wider rims. They really pay off after about the 10 to 15 mile mark. They seem easier to push and less work from my stock rims I feel them reducing effort on my part. Rolling resistance is really noticed in down hill. I'm glad I jumped up to this level as I would have been disappointed with anything less. I do wish I would have moved up to the SL's. Only complaint is the hubs are a bit loud with the clicking noise. I've done a lot of purchasing at WBW's over the last couple of years due to excellent and quick service, price, no tax, quick free shipping and web design.

These wheels are great! I have been running tubeless and have about 500 miles on them so far and no flats. What a great feeling to go out for a ride and not worry about flats. These are so smooth and spin up very nice. A great light wheel set for the price, cant wait to get my cross tires on these and run these for CX.

I have been a tubular snob for a very long time, but no more. These wheels ride great with 25c Conti 5000 tires at 75lbs. The bearings are over the top smooth. Here in NE Pa. rides are always 100 feet of climbing per mile. When I compete I still ride tubulars.

After 2 years of use (4,000 miles) these wheels have held up very well. Stayed in true. Roll nicely. Running 75 PSI on Conti 5000's. Nice ride.

Best mid priced aluminum wheels on the market. This is my second set. The first one went 12k miles over four seasons without needing to be tried once.
