Reviews
I live in Salem but Ive purchased many Items through Westerns website because of their broad selection of quality products. The Giro Synthe helmet I purchased, after careful thought, has more than met my expectations and I would not hesitate to purchase it again.
Helmut is comfortable. I measure about a 7-1/2 hat size and the large size helmut works well. Fairly lightweight and stays in place during rides. Haven't crashed yet with this one on but my old Giro helmut absorbed a crash and being beaned by an errant golf drive :-) so anticipate this one will do the job as well.
Synthe MIPS II fit is very good for my rounder head. The straps exit in a good location, adjustability is decent -no issue with slipping when riding over rough patches.
The aesthetic of the helmet profile is traditional and has a wider shape from a front-on view. Those with a narrow facial profile might not like the greater mushroom-top look.
The helmet is not the lightest MIPS available, but it doesn't constantly remind my that my 10yr old non-MIPS LG X-lite one was 45gm lighter.
I use it on my bike rides and love the helmet since it is so lightweight. I can't even feel it sitting on my head. I also like the plain white & black color rather than some wild pattern or design. Love my Giro helmets!!!
This helmet feels like I'm just wearing a hat. It is so comfortable, light, and well balanced that I barely know I have it on. The quick adjust also made it feel as though the helmet was customized for me and it has large enough vents for air flow and scratching the occasional itch. I will say that even in cool weather, my forehead gets a bit sweaty from the plastic "cage". So far it has been managable.
Giro makes outstanding products. The Synthe MIPS II is an excellent helmet.
Everything good, fit, comfort, weight, and techs in all regards.
I have now owned 4 of them, from older models, to this new model.
Highly recommend !
so i bought this helmet a few years ago for about $120. was it worth it ? when it was working yes, but after a while the adjustment wheel in the back broke off. I tried to glue it back on without success. FORGET IT !
I upgraded from a Giro Foray to a Synthe, expecting it to be noticeably more comfortable. It's plenty comfortable, but I can't say it feels significantly different than a cheaper helmet. But it looks great!
It's light and comfortable. Great ventilation and easy to adjust. Trust the sizes-- I only know 2 people with heads bigger than mine. I measured my head and it was within the L range not XL as I expected. I thought there was a mistake, but since there wasn't an XL, I bought the large. It fits fine. If you have a king size cranium, buy this helmet-- it will fit.
As a long-time Giro helmet user, the Synthe MIPS II is the best I've used to date. Ultra-light, super-ventilated, and the added safety of MIPS II? What's not to like!
If you're too frugal - like me - to fork out the dough for the latest and greatest Giro helmet used by the PROs, this former PRO level lid is an incredible value.
This is my 3rd Giro Synthe; I bought it to save in case they are discontinued. This is the only helmet I will wear; it happens to fit my head well. It does not impinge on my neck. And it definitely saved me from potentially serious head injury when I wrecked recently. The helmet was totalled, but saved my head!
