Description
Brave the cold weather in Giro's Seasonal Merino Wool Cap. The Australian Merino Wool outer and fold-able ear flap are amazingly warm, yet also moisture wicking and soft -- so you stay toasty, dry and itch-free all season long.
The liner material is made from a highly breathable polyester blend and features X-Static, an anti-microbial fiber which helps eliminate odor causing bacteria. The classic paneled construction and reinforced brim look great too.

Nice warm cap. It would be even better if the bill was slightly longer and I would really like some sort of wind-stopper fabric panel for the forehead area but don't let that stop you from getting this. I also appreciate that it comes in different sizes, I've found that many one-size-fits-all caps are too tight for my head and the edge of the bill will wind up pushing uncomfortably right above my eyebrows. And not that it should matter but I've had strangers come up to me and ask me about the cap, I guess it looks good.
needs larger earflaps. measures only 1 18 to 1 12 at the ear - not big enough to cover. I bought the LXL size, too, but don't even wear a L helmet.
The weight is perfect for the PNW winter lowlands (cool, misty). Buy if you have a small head.
I wanted to like this, I have a medium size head and ordered the small and it fits very loose to the point it doesn't feel like it is even on and this of course makes the ear covers useless, it is very thin good and bad I suppose.
I've had it before, but lost it. getting it again made my head very happy. covers the top of your ears so if it's not dire out, you won't get frostbite. really nice fit under a helmet (Bern is what I use), keeps me toasty even sitting in the bar backyard having some sustenance.
This is among the best pieces of cycling kit of any type in my wardrobe. For folks with big heads like me, you put it on and you don't notice it's there, yet it doesn't slip and slide around as you might get with something that fits loose enough.
For the absolute coldest weather, I might combine it with a neck gaiter that I pull up to the ears to double up the llayering.
Above maybe 55 degrees Farenheit, it gets a little hot, especially if you have the ear coverings folded up into a double wool layer above your ears.
Finally a cap that comes in sizes! This one has a L/XL size that makes it very comfy on my large noggin. Often, the one size fits all caps give me headache, but not the Giro. For me, the Giro wool cap is good down to upper 30's F. I guess it's the wool, but it seems comfortable with a wide range of temps (say 38 to 60 F), and you can roll up the ear flaps too. If it had a bit more wind protection, it would probably be better for lower temps. My only nitpick is with the way the bill attaches to the head band, it seems a little flimsy, which makes the bill often sit crooked and I look like a fred.
Soft material and warm where it covers your head, but I find the ear flaps don't come down far enough to keep my ears warm so it ends up having a narrow range of temperature in which I use it. I like it in the high 40s, but warmer than that and it's too warm and cooler than that and I swap out for a warmer hat. Very nice looking, would not buy again if/when I lose it.
This is made of extremely comfortable fabric, not itchy at all, that provides good insulation and fits well under your helmet. It's a nice blue and looks much better than the typical winter caps. It's big for my head, but I wear it anyway. It would be perfect if it weren't so expensive. A nice extravagance.
Good
Quality like most giro stuff
warm
stylish
good for 40
perfect cut over the ears
Bad
A bit pricey
Runs BIG. I would order a size smaller than usual
I would highly suggest this. I have 3 other similar hats. One by giro and two by castelli. This is my fave by far.
I wear this a good part of the year. Not bulky, breathes well, small brim helps keep the rain & sun out of eyes.
Ear flaps can be folded up or down while riding for temperature control.
