Description
Fizik's Tempo R5 Powerstrap Road Shoe is a versatile road cycling shoe with an innovative Velcro closure designed to securely and comfortably conform to the foot.
Unlike other velcro closure systems, this configuration consists of a ribbon that wraps around the foot, enabling ultimate comfort and containment using just two straps. This system replicates the principle of fizik's Volume Control: the instep and the midfoot are separately adjustable areas to provide a customized fit and compression. The R5 Nylon composite outsole is supple and comfortable without compromising control and pedaling efficiency.

Reviews
I had been seeking this shoe for some time and saw a great offer on WesternBikeWorks site. The shoe is very pleasing to looking at. While the velcro straps might be 'old school' technology, they do a very efficient job of keeping my feet in place with as much wiggle room as I might need. I will say though... I guess my feet are slightly wider then the sole of this shoe. The first couple of ride I ride sense that maybe I had tightened the velcro straps too much, but the discomfort truly at the bottom of my feet. I know that some of Fiizik's other shoe models have been updated for 'wide' feet, but not this R5 Powerstrap. Since the break-in period, the shoes have seemed to have formed a better fit. These shoes aren't maybe 'as comfortable' as my time-tested SIDI's. Also, the soles of these R5's definitely don't have the stiffness of a 100% carbon sole. I'm not a big cycling tech guy, but the difference in feel of power in my strokes from these shoes vs SIDI is a tad less reactive. Would I buy again? At the price I paid... yes.
These are my 2nd pair, i have the navy blue ones, and they provide easy onoff, tightening of the straps, and the fit is comfortable. And the colors are especially the Coral. I will be purchasing a 3rd pair in black.
Ive been riding these shoes now for two weeks and am very pleased. They fit true to size, are pretty comfortable even for my wide feet and look great. Ive only ridden them with shoe covers on so I cant gauge how well they vent but Im already thinking of getting another pair in another color
