Description Increased Speed, Comfort, & Traction
ENVE's SES 4.5 AR Disc Carbon Wheelset showcases an uncompromising aero wheel designed specifically for disc brake equipped bikes and large volume 28 to 30mm road tires. It was created for cyclists looking for more speed, comfort, and traction on all road surfaces.
Note: Because these wheels have a straight sidewall, also known as a hookless bead design, they will only work with certain tire designs and constructions. While many well known models will work, the following are incompatible and may result in catastrophic failure. The following list and expanded requirements can also be viewed on ENVE's site under the Tire Compatibility tab. If you have further questions, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Wow What an upgrade

Road a set of Roval CLX32 that came on my bike for 2 years. Wanted to try a deeper rim with better support for 28C tires. The difference in this upgrade is more than I had hoped for. Comfort on less than perfect roads is considerable, apparent right away, they ride as smooth as my old wheels with 32c tires. The big difference is the sped and stability. Beyond 20MPH the speed difference is drastic it just takes less energy to obtain and maintain the same speeds. I have a steep hill near my home that I ride very often on my old wheels with similar tires I could sprint the top and hit 50mph on the Enve I can coast off the top and hit 50mph. I live in a mountainous area most of my rides climb 90+ feet per mile and I was concerned that these wheels would not climb as well but, I feel like I maintain speed much better through rollers and into the bottom of climbs. The difference in speed once i'm in the lowest few gears on steep climbs doesn't feel any different and my strava climb times have not diminished. The stifness of the wheelset when out of the saddle and hard cornering feels very supportive. I'm still working on tire pressure to find a balance of cornering confidence and smooth ride, I'm finding pressures about 20psi less than my old wheel tires work well, bit a couple psi up or down makes a huge difference. This was a very expensive upgrade but Im very happy with the results.

I use these for mixed road light gravel riding. Absorb vibrations well and will go fast. I particularly like the way that they absorb vibration on pitted and chipped roads. Running with 30mm front and 35mm back Schwable G-One set up as tubeless. Would buy again if needed.

I got these tires for a new bike build, but initially I mounted them on a steel frame that I knew really well having had it for years. I dont go fast enough for significant aero so I mostly purchased these wheels for their allroad aspect. Mounted them with Schwalbe G-one road 32 mm front and 35mm rear, set up tubeless. They are a dream to ride. Roadside gravel, uneven asphalt, chip seal become irrelevant. Roadside gravel is always scary on my regular roadbike, but these wheelstires rolled right over it without noticing. I did one section of loose gravelpacked gravel road that happens to be a strava segment. I sent a new PR for the segment, mostly because I was more confident riding, due to the wheels and tires being more sure footed. The wheels are light and accelerate really fast, almost like climbing wheels and are very good and sure footed going around corners. The only downside is their expense. Great wheels.
