Enduro Traction, Engagement & Stability
The Crank Bros Mallet Enduro Race Pedals feature integrated Traction Pad technology to optimize pedal engagement with the shoe for a more stable, more efficient platform. The pads come in the way of 1 mm or 2 mm swappable polyurethane pads included with the pedals for getting the best fit for any given shoe, and they mount up simply to the Mallet E's concave 6061-T6 aluminum bodies, which feature chamfered edges to reduce the likelihood of rock strikes.
6 adjustable pins on each side and special ribbing on the face of the cages help improve traction when unclipped, and as always, Crank Bros' 4-sided entry means easy engagement and excellent mud shedding. The Mallet E is available in two spindle lengths, standard, with a Q-factor of 52mm versus the LS or long spindle edition, coming in 57mm for extra shoe clearance and stability.
Inside the forged chromoly spindle, the Mallet E uses high-quality internals with an Enduro cartridge outer bearing and igus glide inner bearing protected by a robust Double Seal system for a long smooth life. In the case they see a little too much action, the Mallet Enduro Race pedals are easily rebuildable using a Crank Bros Pedal Refresh kit.

I had to return these because they were dangerous to use. Very difficult to get in and out of. I have done many long distance rides including across the country twice. This is not a novice opinion.

Great all around pedal for general purpose use

I use this on my Urban commuter bike. They are easy to get in and out of, and the wide platform makes for a stable platform in case you don't get clipped in crossing an intersection.

Stable platform
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.
I bought these for my gravel bike, and so far, really like them. They come with a Crank Bros. cleat, so not SPD compatible. Theres a spacer for the cleats as well if you need it to clear your shoe tread. They have a pretty nice release, and thanks to the broad platform you can take a moment to clip in again. The platform design adds to a feeling of stability when youre flying over rough terrain.
They are milled very precisely, and actually have pretty sharp edges, Ive slashed my legs up pretty good. You might take a bit of emery to those, unless you favor the scarred-up look.

I use this pedal for cyclocross racing. An easy pedal to clip into. Nothing negative to say about this product.
