Description
The Right Tire For The Toughest Conditions
With its robust construction, the Continental Gatorskin has been number one for the urban cyclist who doesn't let rough roads slow them down. The brand-new Black Edition 700c Road Tire, combines the technology you know and trust from the Gatorskin and gives you an updated, sleek aesthetic.
With Conti's PolyX Breaker®, the brand brings their car expertise to the bicycle tire segment: Polyester has been used successfully for years in car tires and been tried and tested many times. The extremely resistant polyester fibre is woven tightly crosswise. In this way, a very high fabric density is reached which not only makes the Breaker more resistant to foreign objects but is also especially resistant to punctures. The rolling resistance is also not negatively affected by the PolyX Breaker.
Roll with the punches
Tires with DuraSkin® sidewall protection have to be able to roll with the punches. They are used under the harshest conditions. On messenger bikes, the tires skid along curbs; on touring bikes, they cross continents without wearing out. In racing cycling, they have to endure tough tests such as the Paris-Roubaix. The high-quality polyamide fabric protects the tire casing against the worst conditions.
Features:
All black sidewalls
Poly-X Breaker puncture protection and DuraSkin sidewall protection deliver excellent resistance to thorns, glass shards and other road debris
180 tpi casing is supple for great road feel

The shrapnel arsenal necessity
by Mike Hassett

I was using another brand that claimed they were bulletproof, but after 3 flats in a week Id had enough. Tried out the black edition gatorskins and not only did they give me confidence, but they look great on my bike. Tough as nails

The Gatorskin has been my go-to for as long as I can remember. Defeats the road rubble like no other, with performance attributes for every weather condition, and the capabilities of most riders, with the possible exception serious racers.

A reliably great tire.
by Anquetil

I don't have any controlled scientific studies to support my opinion. But, over the years I've found these tires to be sturdy with very good grip in the rain. I even take them on gravel sometimes. I very, very rarely flat (I hope I didn't jinx anything). Due to frame limitations, I run 700x25.

Durable
Gatorskins wear more slowly, get fewer flats and may be slightly easier to get on/off than GP 4 Seasons.

Basically this tire performs well to prevent road type issues. Wears well, only challange is they are tight and difficult to put on rims on the road. The same thing that makes them wear well.

Great product
Ive been using Gator Skins for a few years now, and nothing else will go on my bike. I recommend them to all my cycling friends. I will continue to use Gator Skins as long as Im riding.

Black in style!

Got a great price for tires and I always start the season with on my road bikes. I love the all black without the orange trim. I've only had one of the Gatorskins had a chunk taken out of it while riding. I was able to fill it with neoprene rubber and use it on my trainer and that's what I do when the tire starts to flatten out. Tough tires for me. I feel more confident in the Gatorskins as opposed to Gran Prix 5000 tires since I've seen a few blow out during an IM. I use to train and do Tri's and now it's for exercise, fun, and just to get out and away.

These are great tires for making sure you are not going to get a flat in most cases, however they def ride alittle heavier then some other tires. They are good tho, they'll get the job done.

Best value for money
by Scott Gratton

I am averaging about 3,000 miles on these tires riding on rough Montana roads. The tires are responsive and comfortable at the same time. Although you pay a little more up front, they last longer and give you a great value!

Good reliable road tires
by Anonymous

The Gatorskins offer good durability and reliability with reasonably good road feel. I don't race, so I am more concerned with avoiding flats when I might be 10 to 25 miles away from home or where my car is parked.

I've been riding Gatorskins for about 5 years now. They are my "go to" tire. Let me say, I don't race. These are the best tires for daily riding, group rides and touring! I generally ride 4 days a week, 25 to 60 miles. I hate flats! While they do weigh a bit more the light weight tires, i'll take that any day or getting a flat! In our area we have a lot of "chip seal" roads and other road debris especially during and just after winter, these take it all in stride! Most riders in our group are using these as well! They are tough to put on.

I've been using 25mm tires FOR EVER!!!! (over 20 years); love them. Switched to Conti Gatorskins back in 2008 or 2009. Lots of mileage, very few flats (a handful in all these years), decent ride (combination of compliance and traction), and when they're on sale (like these were), I buy a pair.
