Looks are just the beginning.

The Catlike Mixino is the next evolution of comfort, safety, and style, and this newest iteration kicks it up a notch, again.

Catlike's most advanced helmet, the Mixino, takes comfort, looks, and protection to the next level while lowering the helmet's overall weight compared to the already-impressive Whisper helmet. How'd they manage it? The ARC roll cage, an internal structure made of Aramid fiber, an extremely strong and durable material used mostly for aerospace and military applications, is reinforced by Graphene nano-fibers—200 times harder than steel, Graphene adds exceptional strength to the Aramid cage without adding weight. In fact, this newest Mixino is even lighter than its predecessor.

The helmet is constructed using the In-Mold process, which connects the hard outer shell of the helmet to the polystyrene core, creating one integral piece, improving impact resistance, and helping to diffuse stress in the event of a crash. In addition, the helmet's many specially-shaped vents constitute the Crash Energy Splitter, a technology that ensures the stress of an impact will be spread throughout the entire helmet, rather than concentrated in one area.

Those same vents, contribute to the helmet's exceptional comfort. 39 signature "honeycomb" air intakes are arranged using Catlike's Dual-Flow system, which connects large front air intakes to large rear exit vents in the back of the helmet, ensuring constant airflow and helping to keep you cool and dry.

The Mixino's MPS (Multi Positioning System) eVo rentention system, found only in Catlike's high-end helmets, consists of separate horizontally and vertically adjustable pads, strategically placed to support the sides and back of the skull (lateral and occipital support, if you prefer). This system means that the helmet can very comfortably accommodate heads of all shapes and sizes; ergonomic wings at the sides of the helmet, fitted with interchangeable pads of various sizes, further this end. The fit is controlled by a lightweight Micro-Metrical wheel for easy micro-adjustment on the bike—no need to take off your helmet. Replaceable Outlast® pads inside the helmet, made of NASA-developed Phase Change Materials (PCM), store and release heat as needed to regulate temperature in cool or hot weather.

Available in various colors in Small, Medium, and Large. Claimed weight: 240 grams (size Medium).

Sizing details:

  • Small: 52-54 cm (20.5-21 inches)
  • Medium: 55-57 cm (21.5-22.5 inches)
  • Large: 58-60 cm (23-24 inches)

Great design, great fit, however, has a large looking profile on my head

Great aesthetics, fit, and lightweight. Only slightly negative comment is that the profile of the helmet looks big and bulgy on my head. I bought a medium (the correct size for my head per Catlike's measurement table) and it looks like it comes off my head more than some other lowerslimmer profile helmets. I'd still recommend the helmet.

I bought this for my wife after she crash-tested her 3 year-old Catlike helmet. Despite a bad crash (broken radius in one arm and another bone in her wrist in the other), the helmet gave its life to protect her. A large rash and dent in the plastic shell above the temple showed just how hard she hit the ground with her head. She had a slight concussion, but the helmet looked like it saved her from a more serious head injury.

All helmets are made of EPS, styrofoam, which is supposed to crush on impact. More surface area touching your head less crush. This Catlike design has minimal EPS surface area touching your head, so it will crush easily on impact. That's what we want. I'm still recovering from a brain injury I got wearing a helmet that placed a lot of EPS surface area against my head, and did NOT crush on impact. For six months I couldn't make new memories. Not recommended. This helmet is an awesome answer to that challenge. And excellent fit and airflow. Yay.

This is my second Catlike helmet and pleased to own it. The way the padding sits, it gives this tri-mohawk look. It's pretty great for your Prodigy cover band.

This is my 4th Catlike helmet and by far my favorite. The new adjustment reel in the back works very well. The weight is such that it feels like you're not wearing a helmet at all. The ventilation is amazing. Love the design too.

This is my 3rd Mixino. I love them. One is with one of my bikes in another state and another one recently saved my head in a bad bike crash which left me with a broken hand instead of in a coma. The helmet did its job, by sacrificing itself to absorb the energy of the crash. Kudos to Catlike for making this incredible piece of kit!

Only one concern is the cushion items. Small amount of velcro allows missplacement issues and one separated after only a month of use. The kit came with some extras so a simple replacement was all that was needed. It is the best looking and performing unit I have owned. Fit is superior to other brands and the comments from other riders are solely about the look. Love it!

Just got the helmet in matte black and I'm quite pleased. Nice tight fit, loads of adjustments and a pretty snappy design in my view. I inline skate more than I cycle, and I had the mixino on today for a hard 20k skate in 88F heat - no issues whatsoever. I was slightly surprised that I ended up with a medium (was thinking large), but the medium fits me very well - not sure if the helmet runs slightly big. I had read some complaints about adjustment strap comfort, but I did not find that to be the case at all - definite thumbs up from me.

Review for Catlike 2013 Mixino Helmet
7 of 7 customers found this review helpful.

Catlike has really come through with the Mixino. What I loved about my Whisper Plus (unique look, superior ventilation) has carried over, an what I didn't love has been eliminated (less customizable fit, weight). The retention system is fantastic, and when I followed the directions for fitting those w a round head, it was the most comfortable fit I have been able to achieve with a bike helmet. The only problem I have with it is that the foreward-most straps, which lay over the temples, are set into the helmet waaay too far forward. I am used to those straps laying over the temples' hairline, but these are set further forward than that, the feel of which drove me nuts. My solution was to pop out the forward connecting points of the retention system, thread the straps aft of those points, and pop the rentention system back in. That positioned the straps exactly where I wanted them, without seemingly compromising function, as pulling down on the straps as hard as I could did not result in the rentention system popping out. I'm glad I was able to figure this solution out, because I would have otherwise been forced to consider returning the helmet. Overall, one gets a very high quality helmet (even for the price), and will revel in the feeling of wearing no helmet at all (but for the straps telling you it's there). Hopefully Catlike will address the positioning of the forward straps, but until then my little workaround seems to be a good solution.

LikesUnsurpassed Style, Safety and technology, color combination (Matches my team kit), excellent fit and adjust-ability, comfort, and that my Oakley and Giro Havik glasses fit perfectly in the vent holes. You get what you pay for, and while a bit more expensive than some, this is well worth it.

Dislikes None.

This my second Mixino as my first was a pale-pink version (Giro d'Italia inspired) which I bought on clearance a few years ago. I love that helmet but as it drew more attention than I might have liked, I wanted to mix things up. I absolutely love the feel and the look, and as someone with a bigger dome, I can attest to the fact that it is not easy to find a quality helmet that does not appear gargantuan around my big old melon. Hard to imagine a better helmet.

Review for Catlike 2014 Mixino Helmet

I have tried many helmets in my many years of cycling and nothing compares to the Catlike Maximo. As advertised, it provides excellent ventilation with its numerous air pocket design. The tension settings on the sides are unique and give you a great fit. The helmet is very light. At times, I have to check that I remembered to put on my helment as it is that comfortable and light. Best of all the helmet looks really cool. You won't be disappointed.
