The Castelli Women's Short Distance Race Suit is a masterpiece in riding apparel, using only six different materials to provide a suit that dries quickly, slices through the wind, and virtually disappears on the run. Of course, as the name implies, this suit features a rear zipper, making for a comfortable fit and an easy on/off operation thanks to the lanyard-equipped zipper.
In the first leg of the tri, the Free Tri's Instadry Speed fabric will really shine thanks to its hydrophobic properties. Refusing to absorb any water, this suit will add buoyancy and reduce drag. Once T1 comes, the fabric pushes moisture to the surface to quickly evaporate away, leaving you cool and dry by the time you pedal away.
It should come as no surprise that this suit breaks away from the competition once the second leg comes. Using Velocity mesh and Speedfreak fabric, this suit boasts an ergonomic cut that provides a second skin-like fit that Castelli claims will shave minutes off an ultra-length solo ride. Replacing the usual trio of air-catching rear pockets, Castelli implements two Aero pockets at the hip, reducing drag and keeping nutrition readily accessible.
Differing from typical cycling speed suits, the Free Tri uses their women's specific Kiss Tri chamois, eliminating excess material to cover the wide range of motion that a triathlete goes through.
