When You Need Warmth But You're Not Fighting For Survival
The Castelli Men's Free Aero RC Bibtight is made to be your first choice for most of your winter riding. It's the performance tight with the right weight and a focus on comfort, stretch, and protection. Everything about it is focused on keeping you comfortable and at the right temperature. Every detail, every fabric, every seam will make your winter riding better on those cool to cold days.
Most of the tight is constructed from Castelli Nano Flex 3G fabric. The third generation of Nano Flex is luxuriously soft, warm, and stretchy. But it also offers excellent breathability, keeps a lot of the wind out, and has updated Nano Flex water-repellent finish. The lower legs are in lighter-weight Nano Flex stretch woven fabric with a lightly brushed inside and with leading water repellency.
The rest is simple: minimalist Free bib straps that you won't notice, and raw-cut leg endings that are stretchy enough to not need ankle zippers. This is supposed to be your long-ride comfort tight, so the Progetto X² Air Seamless pad will be protecting your backside.
Features:
- Nano Flex 3G fabric from waist to knee for soft warmth with maximum stretch and water repellency
- Nano Flex stretch woven fabric with brushed fleece inside at lower leg for splash protection on wet roads
- Stretchy bottom of leg with raw-cut edge means ankle zipper is not necessary
- Minimalist bib straps, as found on the Free Aero RC Bibshort, don't add extra bulk
- Rear pocket at bottom of bib straps
- Reflective tabs on back of legs
- Progetto X² Air Seamless seat pad for long hours in the saddle
- Rated for 2-12°C / 36-54°F

Reviews
The material feels soft, it's very stretchy and won't inhibit pedaling performance. I'm 5'11" 150 lbs and the Large is too big it's actually swimming around my calves it won't do. All the Castelli bibs or tights in size Large have fit me perfectly just like Pearl Izumi size Medium, but on this particular item I need a Medium. Since there aren't any available this will be returned. Bummer because I would really love this tight it feels like it would be perfect for temps when a bib short isn't quite enough and the Sorpasso is slightly too much. It feels lighter than its scale weight by a mile very impressive fabric, cut, thickness, etc...
This tight serves me well in mid-40s and warmer. Great pad (similar to their summer bibs). Works very well for most cooler temps (you will need something more robust for 30s). I love the "radio" pocket feature on the back; great for storing my iPhone. Highly recommended.
I bought these in the middle of summer when they were on sale so I have't been able to wear them yet but I'm sure they will be excellent. I own plenty of Castelli gear and haven't been disappointed yet.
