Description

Conquer Your Commute With The Kahva 29" Studded Winter Tire

From light trail riding to everyday commuting, the 45Nrth Kahva allows you to carve your way through snowy and icy conditions with concave carbide studs as well as single, double and triple siped lugs.

It's designed to take on the worst of winter and still deliver riders to their destination.

The Kahva has three features that provide cyclists with traction and control in slick conditions.

First, the Kahva has siping across the entire tread pattern from side lugs to center lugs. This siping gives more biting edges on snow and slick surfaces.

Second, the lugs are spaced out to dig through soft snow down to firmer terrain for traction.

Lastly, the Kahva has carbide-tipped studs on the side and shoulder lugs to provide grip on ice. Khava also has ramping on the leadiing edges of all lugs to increase rolling efficiency, especially on dry surfaces.

The result is a durable, dependable snow tire that eats up winter's worst - and then asks for seconds.

Features:

  • High-traction studded high-volume commuter tire
  • Siping on center and side lugs allows them to conform to terrain better for increased grip in any riding conditions
  • 240 oncave carbide studs provide traction in the iciest conditions
  • Directional lugs provide low rolling resistance while offering excellent braking traction
  • Tubeless Ready
  • 60 tpi
  • 29 x 2.25

Before getting these, I used the 2 inches Marathon ice, and liked them. However, with any snow beyond 2 inches, I tended to bog down. In comparison, the 45nrth are far more surefooted in deeper snow and ice. The price is more rolling resistance on dry roads. It is a compromise I'm willing to make as bike is my main mode of transportation

If you live in a city that gets freezing rain, or frozen roads, but not much snow, the Marathon ice is a better tire. These are more than what you need. If you have to ride in loose snow and ice, these are the best, unless you are going way fatter

I ride in southwest Michigan along Lake Michigan.

I use this tire for winter riding on the road on my hardtail. Easy to install. Betteron uneven icy areas than other tires I've tried. Expensive.
