I picked these tires up as a more road focused version of the Pathfinder Pros or a myriad of other gravel focused tires. While they might look like the thick urban tires of hybrids past, they are quite supple, seat easily, and very responsive. After replacing my Allez with an all-road/CX geo frame, I am quite happy with these tires as my road tire. Lets be honest, there are very few smooth roads anymore and from patches, to chipseal, to off road detours these tires make riding fun and fast.
I ride a fitness bike daily on a combination of paved roads, gravel roads and natural surface trails and these tires devour everything I throw at them. Fast and quiet on paved roads, they also provide ample traction and stability on unimproved surfaces.
To top it off, they are resistant to flats and last for several thousand miles of demanding cycling. I highly recommend the MICHELIN PROTEK CROSS 700C TIRE for those who ride hard and fast on multiple surface types.
After an exhaustive internet search for a quality tire at an affordable price, I discovered the Michelin Protec Cross on Westernbikeworks.com. These tires were a bit more aggressive than ones replaced, but a great choice for pavement, dirt, and gravel. Very pleased.
We ride on combinations of street, crusher paths and some dirt. These tires are high pressure so they roll fast on the street. The tread works well in dirt and on crusher fines. The reflective stripe on the sides is a nice touch. We've had the tires for a few months and so far, they ride great with no signs of wear. Very happy with this tire. Would choose it again.
