Most reviews comment on fit, looks and airflow. All of those things are great with this helmet. We wear a helmet to protect our head. This helmet did its job. Recently I was out on a group ride starting a decent, going approximately 25 mph when this pit bull came running out of no where and literally torpedo me in my front wheel. I hit the pavement hard. My jersey fabric was embedded in a two foot section of the pavement where I slid across the pavement. Trip to ER, 4 nights in the hospital, nine cracked rips and a dislocated AC shoulder joint. My Giro Helmet has scrapes on both sides where it hit the pavement and slid. I had no head injuries!!! This helmet did it's job when I needed it. The helmet is the most important piece of cycling gear everyone must have. Other helmets may have protected me just as well, but this is the one I had on when I crashed. I am a fan and my helmet earned every single star. 5++
This has been my primary helmet for a couple years. I always rode with confidence but a recent close call proved it. I was commuting to work and hit a patch of black ice and landed on my hip and my head bounced off a curb. My hips still sore and bruised up and my neck will need a few chiropractic visits to heal properly but my heads intact and undamaged. A man driving by was shocked I was able to walk away from the crash seeing it firsthand and I'm forever grateful that this helmet held up and did it's job. Great product.
I was cautiously optimistic since some of the reviewers questioned the durability of this light but I have been happy with it ever since. It seems solid although I haven't dropped it (helmets shouldn't be dropped in the first place). It holds a charge extremely well for such a small unit (lasts 4-5 days for about 2 hours/day before recharge is needed) and I feel like it gives an additional level of visibility and protection. I commute 32 miles a day and spend a lot of time on suburban roads so every bit helps. I use the blinking function every morning and at night in the winter.
I bought this to replace a 10-year-old Giro helmet. Specifically chose for ventilation for warm weather rides. Very comfortable, and the ventilation is really noticeable - I can feel the air crossing my head and coming out the back. Never noticed that before in my other helmets (Giro, Smith Trace).
Only 2 drawbacks. First is that the helmet is kind of loud. As soon as I hit about 18 mph, all of that airflow made it sound like I was going 40 mph. Takes some getting used to. Second is the sunglass garage. There's a little piece of fabric or something to help hold your specs in place, but it doesn't feel real secure. POC should replace that with a silicone patch or something similarly lightweight and grippy.
