I've tried using these shoe savers twice. Once when my shoes were slightly wet and another time when my shoes were soaked. Both times I left the Shoe Savers in for over 7 hours and neither time did they seem to soak up any of the moisture from the shoes. I actually unpacked the cedar inserts to be sure and they didn't seem to have any moisture in them.
I thought I had to just slide them into my wet shoes, however maybe I missed something like a magical chant or on switch.
On later consideration, I realized that these may work well on street shoes that have cotton and other fluffy insulation layers - and it may just be that the materials my Sidis and Giro shoes are made of don't transfer water out very easily.
Either way, I would have returned them had I not already put them in my wet, smelly shoes.
