The PD-M785 is Shimano's first large platform XT pedal, offering over eight times more pedal-to-shoe contact than the previous XT pedal, the M770. This new "Trail" design provides maximum stability when you're not clipped-in and extra support needed for longer rides.
Outside of the integrated cage and the few extra grams that come along with it, this pedal is identical to the M780 "Race" model. And, as you'd expect from anything with the XT logo, the heavy duty construction stands up to the abuse of everyday riding.
