Maximum wind slicing efficiency. The WH-7900-C50 is Shimano's most aggressive Dura-Ace clincher, boasting their proven 50mm carbon hybrid rim and a brand new hub design for 2011.

The in-house designed rim features a carbon/aluminum hybrid construction which, unlike similar designs, dramatically increases the wheel's stiffness while saving weight. The carbon wrapped aluminum core is taken from carbon crank designs where an alloy skeleton is further strengthened by a carbon exterior -- this makes the carbon fiber an essential element of the wheel's construction, rather than an expensive decoration. The drag eliminating 50mm profile offers an incredible aerodynamic advantage and exceptional strength compared to the shorter C35 and C24 models.

Rim aside, its the new 7900 series hubset that really steals the show. Shimano uses the same silky smooth angular contact ball bearings but have added the "digital click" system for tool free micro-adjustment. Over-sized A7075 aluminum axles and wide flange spacing provide incredibly rigid performance while also doing their part to keep the weight low.
