Description Save weight without giving up versatility or strength. The WH-7900-C24 Dura-Ace Wheelset is born for speed and optimized for top performance thanks to its extremely light 24mm carbon/alloy rim and brand new hub design for 2011.
Like its predecessor, the WH-7900-C24-TL Dura-Ace Wheelset features a tubeless compatible carbon/aluminum hybrid rim where the carbon is actually structural rather than a fairing as used by some wheel manufacturers. The standard aluminum braking surface leads into a half millimeter thick alloy rim, which is then reinforced with a carbon fiber layer on the exterior. Like carbon cranks that use an alloy skeleton, this hybrid leads to a light yet incredibly stiff wheel. The profile is a scant 24mm deep to help these Dura-Ace wheels spin up like lightening on the flats and fly up the hills without sacrificing strength and durability.
Rim aside, its the new 7900 series hubset that really steals the show. Shimano uses the same silky smooth angular contact ball bearings but have added the "digital click" system for tool free micro-adjustment. Over-sized A7075 aluminum axles and wide flange spacing provide incredibly rigid performance while also doing their part to keep the weight low.
