The next evolution in road shoe technology. New for 2011, the SH-R315E features innovative technical materials and an updated carbon sole to shave grams and increase pedaling efficiency, all while delivering unmatched comfort. This E designation indicates a wider fit for those seeking a slightly roomier shoe.

  • New Rovenica microfiber upper is amazingly supple with 'fit memory' and exceptional breathability
  • Venting honeycomb upper mesh increases airflow
  • Hollow Channel weaved carbon sole and heel cup with anti-slip lining
  • Sole ventilation ports
  • Custom fit technology*
  • Secure and pressure relieving asymmetric buckle and dual off-set straps
  • 3-bolt cleat compatible only (two bolt adapter sold separately)
  • White/Black/Red

*For best results Shimano's custom fit insoles can be vacuum fit to your specific foot shape at an Authorized Shimano footwear dealer. The insole can also be set up by heating it in a home oven, placing it inside the shoe and standing in the shoe while it's warm.

After years of riding in Specialized and Sidi shoes, I decided to give these a try. I have pretty wide feet and have always had trouble getting a comfortable fit in cycling shoes. The Sidi mega shoes fit me fairly well, but are a little sloppy on my feet. And their lighter-stiffer models aren't available in mega sizes.

The Shimano shoes can be custom fitted, so I decided to try them. I don't have a local dealer so I bought them online from Western and did the fit adjustment myself. After heating them in the kitchen oven at about 250 degrees for a few minutes, I put them on my feet and then put my foot with shoe into a large plastic bag along with my vacuum cleaner hose. I wrapped a belt around the bag at my ankle to minimize the air leaking and let the vacuum create as much suction as possible for about three minutes. I kept the shoe on my feet for another five minutes as they cooled down.

The fit is fantastic. There are no pressure spots, but my feet don't move around at all while I'm riding. The soles are stiff and the closures are easy to use. What more could you ask for?
