Most tire designs balance a variety of factors. Customers want to see lightweight, endless durability, great grip and maximum speed. Funny thing is, many of the features that suggest 'high-end race tires' do nothing to improve performance.
Enter the Pro Optimum. Michelin designed the ultimate performance tire in the real world, rather than the tire to hit all the marketing points.
Yes, the fastest tires might be a little wider than you're used to, clocking in at 25mm. This gives a smoother, faster ride and better grip in the corners. Wheel makers such as Zipp and Hed have been building wider wheels specifically to accommodate wider, faster tires. They also feature a differential rubber compound, tougher in the back where the weight and punctures tend to happen. More supple up front for great handling.
Whether its all day club rides or high level racing, this is the tire that truly delivers Optimum performance.
