Customer Rating

A new innovation from Michelin, the Pro Optimum uses Front and Rear specific tread compounds. The slightly thicker rear tire is better equipped to handle the wear caused by the weight of the rider and the stress caused by direct power transfer from the bike's drivetrain, resulting in a longer service life with little weight penalty over the standard Pro3 Race.

The front tire carries less weight but is largely responsible for the bike's handling and traction, allowing Michelin to use a lighter compound optimized for excellent traction, similar to the Pro3 Grip. These two different compounds ensure both tires wear at the same rate, while offering the ideal blend of weight savings and durability.

Both tires feature a HD (high density) puncture protection barrier to keep out broken glass and other sharp objects. Only available in 25mm widths as a result of studies which have shown extra volume allows the tire to better conform to road imperfections, preserving energy.

Most tire designs balance a variety of factors. Customers want to see lightweight, endless durability, great grip and maximum speed. Funny thing is, many of the features that suggest 'high-end race tires' do nothing to improve performance.

Enter the Pro Optimum. Michelin designed the ultimate performance tire in the real world, rather than the tire to hit all the marketing points.

Yes, the fastest tires might be a little wider than you're used to, clocking in at 25mm. This gives a smoother, faster ride and better grip in the corners. Wheel makers such as Zipp and Hed have been building wider wheels specifically to accommodate wider, faster tires. They also feature a differential rubber compound, tougher in the back where the weight and punctures tend to happen. More supple up front for great handling.

Whether its all day club rides or high level racing, this is the tire that truly delivers Optimum performance.
