The Stinger 5 Flame Rouge Tubular delivers a distinct aerodynamic advantage with plenty of durability for rough roads and muddy 'cross conditions.
To achieve this balance, HED uses a 50mm profile with their proprietary Stability Control Technology shaping process. This unique design has proven its merits in the wind tunnel and out on the road, reducing drag without sacrificing handling in crosswinds. The widest point of the profile measures a full 28mm for outstanding stiffness and further stability. HED also uses an extra wide 23mm rim bed to reduce drag with a 23mm tire. The result is an incredibly fast yet stable wheel that won't let you down when the going gets tough.
The Stinger wheels use HED's exclusive Sonic FR rear hub featuring a full alloy shell and smooth rolling cartridge bearings. A carbon fiber cap covers an integrated grease port for easy maintenance. A 15mm oversized axle and extra-wide flange spacing are used to reduce spoke flex and improve lateral compliance. As a final touch, Titanium freehub body hardware shaves a few additional grams.
24 ultra-light Sapim CX Ray bladed spokes are laced 2x on the drive and non-drive side to further laterally rigidity, weight reduction and efficiency.
The claimed weight for the Stinger 5 Flame Rouge Tubular Rear Wheel is 865 grams. The minimum recommended tire width is 22mm. 700c. Black rim with Silver spokes/hub flanges. Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10 and Campagnolo 9/10/11 compatible versions are available.
Note: This wheel is sold individually. Because many riders prefer wheelsets with non-matching rim depths, a front wheel must be purchased separately. If you would like to pair this wheel with a front wheel that is not currently listed online, please contact us for specific availability.
