The Jet 5 Express Clincher Wheelset uses a unique hybrid construction, delivering a lightweight wind slicing advantage without giving up outstanding durability and reliable braking performance.
To achieve this balance, HED uses a 55mm 1k carbon aero section with their proprietary Stability Control Technology shaping process. This innovative design has proven its merits in the wind tunnel and out on the road, reducing drag without sacrificing handling in crosswinds. A scandium C2 outer rim increases the wheel's overall durability and dramatically improves braking performance over full carbon designs. The C2 design also features an extra wide 23mm rim bed to further the aerodynamic advantage when paired with a 23mm wide tire.
The Jet 5 Express wheels use HED's exclusive Sonic hubset featuring full alloy shells and smooth rolling cartridge bearings. 12mm front and 15mm rear oversized axles and extra-wide flange spacing are used to reduce spoke flex and improve lateral compliance. Sapim Sprint bladed spokes to hold it all together. 18 are laced radially up front, and 24 laced 2x on the rear to further laterally stiffness, weight reduction and aerodynamics.
The Jet 5 Express Clincher Wheelset has a claimed weight of 1681 grams (754 gram front, 927 gram rear). Black rims with Black hubs/spokes. 700c. Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10 and Campagnolo 9/10/11 compatible versions are available.
