Description
Eliminate compromise in your race tire.
The Grand Prix 4000 is Continental's most advanced racing clincher, with a truly unique blend of speed and durability. Thanks a bevy of exclusive high tech materials, and years of testing and development, the GP4000 manages to preserve its low rolling resistance and great handling while providing exceptional puncture protection and higher mileage performance than a typical race tire.
There are essentially two separate versions -- those with colored tread which use an activated silica rubber compound, and those with black tread which use the Black Chili rubber compound.
The colored activated silica rubber gives great rolling resistance and lively handling, while the special Xirallic pigmentation process ensures vibrant hues mile after mile and a perfect match to any paint scheme. An additional anti-tear formula has also been added for wear resistance and longevity of tread life.
The Black Chili Rubber features an ultra dense construction and even higher silica content for outstanding grip and blazing speeds. This cutting-edge compound is also optimized for reliability and longevity, making it a great choice when performance and durability are top priority.
Additional Features:
Vectran Puncture Barrier for outstanding flat protection without excess weight
Three ply casing with 330 total TPI
120 max. recommended PSI
700c (622 ISO) and 650c (571 ISO) sizes available
Kevlar folding bead
Various colors
205g (700x23)
Note: The black versions of the GP 4000 are actually identical to the GP 4000 S tire .

Comparing lightweight race tires is often an exercise in splitting hairs. Tires in the $50 range are generally all really good. Some might have slightly better grip, slightly smoother ride or slightly more puncture resistance. Emphasis on SLIGHTLY. The GP4000 may be the exception...
Continental is the only tire manufacturer that utilizes a Vectran puncture protection layer. Vectran is very light, very flexible and very strong (and also pretty expensive). It really makes the GP4000 far and away the most puncture resistant 200g tire.
Light, fast, great puncture resistance. The GP4000 might be the one tire that does it all.
