Perfect for Cool Days

Castelli Men's Sorpasso Bib Knicker works perfectly for me on cool days where temperatures are between 40F to 65F. (I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and these are cool temperatures for me.) They provide the right level of warmth without getting too hot, while climbing, descending or on the flats. The placement of their Thermoflex Core Due seems to be very well thought out, my quads stay nice and warm, even on fast descents, while the rest of my legs stay at the right temperatures too. I find the Progetto X2 seat pad very comfortable, even on longer rides. The grippers are very comfortable and I also like the nice detail of adding a reflective strip on the back leg opening. I really like the way these fit, and I found the fitting chart provided by WesternBike Works to be accurate.

One final comment on why I bought bib knickers-Before getting a bib knicker, I tried leg two different warmers with shorts, but was unsatisfied with the results, often times I was too warm or the tights would not stay in place. The bib knicker solves these problems.

The Castelli bib knickers are extremely well made with a thoughtful design. They fit perfectly, though you need one more size than you are used to. Follow the sizing chart, it is accurate. Very comfortable and perfect for those in between temperature days. I have worn them and washed them twice and they appear that they will hold up well. Recommended.

Heavyweight Knicker

These knickers are heavier with a full fleece lining and are most useful in colder weather, although I have worn them when the temperature has warmed up significantly during my ride and they did not overheat. The pad in these knickers is very good and works well on long rides. The fit is fairly snug on these through the thigh, but less so on the calf. At 5' 11 and 190 lbs, I need an XXL in Castelli vs a large in most other brands. The bib straps are from the body paint line and are very thin and comfortable, although there may be some edge roll on the straps if you don't get the upper portion situated properly. Quality, well made piece of cycling apparel.

I am 6'2 190 lbs - the XL fits fine in both legs and top with no movement so the chamois works very well on the saddle

Recently got these for Christmas, have worn them multiple times already. Living in Bend Oregon can get quite cool in the Winter. In the past have just worn bike shorts under winter Sporthill tights. Opted to try the winter tights with built in seat pad. Already own the body paint Castelli bibs for the summer and love the product, so spouse bought these for Christmas for me to try. Thoughts, very comfortable, fit snug but never binding. The overall quality is excellent. No seam issues at this point after 6 washings. Multiple areas of insulation, each tailored to different areas of the body. Warm without being too hot. Seem to insulate better after your body starts to warm. Match these with SKINS compression calf warmers and unbeatable. Very comfortable up down to 28 degrees. Last but not least, the seat pad. The Progetto X2 seat pad is in my opinion the best on the market. Have ridden many high end shorts for many years and these are perfect. Never feels too thick, just the right amount of padding for a high end short or bib. Have done many 100 mile rides and these never disappoint. The price is right also. Highly marks for these....

Just received these as a Christmas gift. Went out for a three hour ride with the temps 38 - 45 degrees. Good protection, warm with out being too warm. Paired with SKINS calf warmers. Overall perfect. Own Castelli's body paint bib shorts for summer and have been very happy. These appear to be of the same high quality and comfort. The Progetto X2 seat pad is wonderful. Have owned other high end shorts, but these are the most comfortable of all. Even after a 140 mile super century. Castelli makes a superb product. Pricey, a little. But if taken proper care, these will last very well. Last thought, after wearing bibs, will never go back to standard shorts on the road bike. Stay put and are very comfortable.

Tried Pearl Izumi, Assos, Capo, and finally the Castelli. Love the Assos, but I couldn't afford it. Pearl was fine, but was not warm enough for cooler weather 32F. Capo the length was no long enough and bundled around my leg. The Castelli fit was perfect, the construction is very good, and durable. The range of warmth is amazing and I rode in 28F without any problems. Highly recommended and the price is just right.

i love these and always wear a large in all brands of bibs, but at 180 pounds and 5'11 these are tight around my gut. i probably wanted to go on a diet anyway.
