To preface, I'm large as cyclists go - 6'7230, and it's been tough to find a bib short I can wear in warmer weather that works for me. And, for what it's worth, I have problems with my hemorrhoids. My favorite winter bib is a Giordana product with Roubaix fabric just for people my size, but that company didn't see fit to make a summer product line (rats!). I have tried all of the major brands not in Asia, it's a fit issue, just like some Italians brands are exactly that way - 3 sizes too small for my size.
This Italian-made product has compression grippers - no gel or bands to dig into my thighs. The straps don't rope - ever, and don't dig or chafe. The XXL I have is a little tight, but not too uncomfortable for me - I'm down from 280 and will knock off the rest of the belly in two months or less. The best part is the Padrone has the best pad I've ever had - 25-100 mile rides, absolutely no discomfort (I use a Selle SMP Glider saddle, which has just a little bit of padding) - I've never not felt a pad like the one in this bib short.
I've ridden with this bib short in temperatures ranging from 55 to 85 degrees F, with the short being a bit warm at the upper end, I was wearing not the coolest helment and jersey on the hotter days, to be fair. I'm giving my AssosCraft stuff away. I will buy this bib short again, and look to try out a Roma for the hotter days to come - the Roma uses the same pad. My only tip - keep an eye on the stitching on the inner thigh, my first pair frayed on the second ride, but the replacement has been solid. My only wish is that Capo built these in the 3XL, as they offer that size in their special orders. The Padrone has been one of my satisfying apparel choices, you need to try this bib short.
