Description
Maximum performance at a slightly more approachable price. The 2011 Record 11 Crankset is virtually identical to its pricier sibling, boasting the same innovative technology for flawless shifting and an incredibly low weight.
Like last year's model, Ultra-Smooth Ceramic Bearings (USB) are used in place of the CULT Ceramic Bearings found in Super Record model. This sole difference between the two cranks results in a slightly lower price tag for the Record version, without giving up much in the way in performance or durability.
The Ultra-hollow arm construction also remains unchanged, reducing weight by removing excess material from the center of the arm and spider without reducing strength. Tough unidirectional carbon is incredibly stiff with a top layer of multi-directional carbon over the greatest stress points.
The 2011 Record crank's most apparent update is the XPSS™ (eXtreme Performance Shifting System)-- redesigned chainring tooth profiles and updated shift guide pins offer improved chain engagement for lightening fast, accurate shifting in both directions. Campy also manages to reduce weight off this new chainring design by threading four out of five chainring bolts directly into the small ring, eliminating the need for chainring nuts. Alloy chainring bolts shave off a few more grams, while the hard anodized ring finish ensures superior durability. Available in Standard (53/39) or Compact (50/34) configurations.
The update to the Ultra Torque spindle is easier to miss, both half-axles have been precision machined to remove excess material at low stress locations, further reducing weight without compromising strength. Compatible with 11-speed systems only. White graphics. Claimed weight: 625g.
Note: Bottom Ultra Torque Bracket Cups are sold separately. For ideal bearing performance Campagnolo recommends the Record Cups .
