was founded in 1994 in Portland, Oregon with the mission to broaden access to bicycling and its benefits. The Community Cycling Center believes that all people should have the opportunity to choose bicycles to stay healthy and connected.
To accomplish this, they
- Work with community leaders committed to making their neighborhoods healthier places to live
- Train Community Bike Educators to help neighbors with bike repair and safety lessons
- Advocate for equity in the bicycle industry
- Provide bikes, tools, and resources to under-served communities
The Community Cycling Center's signature event
is the Holiday Bike Drive. Volunteers collect donated kids bikes and refurbish them, enabling children from low income families to earn a bike in December. In 2013, they provided nearly 400 bikes.
